What Meaningful Actually Means
People use the word "meaningful" so much it's lost all meaning. They think it means "inspiring" or "important" or "helping people." Usually it's vague.
Real meaning is specific. It's: I understand what we're building. I believe it matters. I can see the impact. And I care that we're doing it right.
It Doesn't Have to Be Saving the World
You don't need to be an NGO or a nonprofit to have meaningful work. You just need work where you can see the point. Where you're solving a real problem. Where you care about the solution.
That exists in startup, corporate, nonprofit, freelance. It exists everywhere if you're paying attention to it.
How to Find It
Ask yourself: would I do this work if nobody was paying me? Not because I'm rich. But if I just decided this mattered? If the answer is no, there's no meaning there. It's just a job.
That's not judgment. It's data. Use it to guide where you look.
